The Podcast Project: Decisions

Welcome back to part 2 of The Podcast Project.

We left off, with me having made a few minor decisions, but with lots of big ones still to make. I am happy to report that I’ve at least gotten a start on a few of those still looming choices.

Now, I still haven’t picked a name or a set topic, although we’re getting closer on that second one for sure. While I’m still not sure what all we will talk about I have enjoyed hearing the unscripted interactions between friends and people in the podcasts I’ve been studying. So whatever I decide to talk about, those interactions will be a part of it.

I’ve also considered some words and phrases for possible inclusion in the name of the podcast.

  • coffee
  • conundrum
  • hope
  • conversation
  • millennial
  • 90s
  • 20 something
  • continuum
  • creative
  • morning

I’ve ordered and received a headset which is said to have a decent starter microphone, as according to an article I read. It’s a Sennheiser SC 160. Which doesn’t mean much to me yet, but as I get further in Podcasts for Dummies, hopefully it will. I’m going to use the headset to record myself, get used to the process, and start learning the technology. This will also give me an opportunity to figure out exactly what tone, pace, and style I like best… Whether I really thing going script-less is okay, or not. Further finding my voice.

I’ve also started to play around with some cover-art styles, some of which I guess I ended up including as the picture for the last post, and this one as well. And while I haven’t settled on anything since I don’t have a name. I’m liking certain aspects of some of what I’ve done. I’ve also considered asking a friend to draw the cover art. Thoughts? Maybe on the next installment, I’ll include some examples.

The podcast from my original list that I’ve studied the most since is ‘Everyday Decisions’. This has increased my desire to go off script and also my love of the human interactions. It’s also confirmed for me that anything over 30 min in this particular style is too long for my liking. I loved her shorter episodes and zoned out during the longer ones. Hands-down, even if you don’t listen to any of the others, listen to the episode with her grandparents, it’s spectacular. Had several great cuddles with my cat while listening to her Podcasts, I think he liked her. But I also had a great nap with him through one episode… all well.

That’s all for now, a quick update. I’ll take podcast suggestions, name suggestions, and any advice you can give. Hope to hear from you before another installation of the Podcast Project.
