* a series started in September 2020 and finished in December after a hiatus from blogging focused on buying secondhand clothes and also for me, a review of that experience as a plus size lady.
The second shop I visited on my Plus Size, Secondhand Shopping Portland adventure was Savvy Plus. They sell both new and used clothes and have a very natural, upscale, classy vibe. Like a posh hippie.
In so many ways the two stores I visited could not have been more different, which was really nice, because I think I fall somewhere in between. Savvy Plus was definitely the less affordable option, but the clothes I got there were higher quality and the experience also reflected that.
From the beautiful floors to the gorgeous mirrored and spacious changing rooms, this space exudes high quality, curated Portland. The first room features new clothes, in various collections and styles, in an array of natural fibers. Lots of solid colors, staple blacks, whites, creams, and browns. A few bold minimalistic patterns and brighter accent colors. Expensive and beautiful.
The second and larger space, holds the secondhand clothes, mirrors, and changing rooms. Well organized and curated selection that is less strict in the fiber selection and colors than that first room, but still consists of a lot of what I would say were beautiful basic pieces, with some accents, earth tones, and denims thrown in. I found this areas to be really very well priced when you considered the condition and brands available.
The woman working there was helpful, fun, and relatable. She set the items I picked in the changing room, helped find pieces in the right size, and suggested a few things. I felt a bit pampered and really safe in regards to their COVID precautions.
I picked out several pieces… a yellow cotton dress, an orangish maroon mid length dress with fun details and a great fit, a burnt orange v-neck t-shirt, and a pair of jeans. All in all an AWESOME, though expensive stop and one I would highly recommend especially for those wardrobe staples and essentials.
