Day 1: We got a later start than I was originally hoping we would, but for the best reason. We were spending much needed down time with some of our best friends. Seriously, if you don’t have adult besties who stay the night, make awesome brunches with you, cry over Queer Eye, and play Overcooked… I would strongly strongly suggest you try to find them.
The drive is took about three hours, even with me driving. I5 is beautiful, but this time of year, most of the time, it’s really just dark. Nick got a little work done and a lot of napping 🙂 Driving down this hill toward the city… you get a true idea of just how big it is. It’s A. bigger than I thought and B. really pretty at night.

I haven’t been to Seattle in 13 years, give or take a year… and honestly it wasn’t the highlight of that particular trip (Orcas Island, Glacier, and the temperate rainforests were WAY cool), so this feels like a first in many ways. By the time we got into town, we were HANGRY, full on grouching. But the wait was worth it, we stopped at a hand pulled noodle place first…
It definitely gave off those ‘hole-in -the-wall” vibes. Nick and I were shooting ‘um…. sketchy’ and ‘shit I hope this isn’t really bad’ eyes at each other for the entirety of the first two minutes. And while I will say that they could use some better storage solutions and maybe a second staff member to help with organizing and some customer service…. that’s really all this place was missing.
The flavors were great! The noodles were super yummy and really cool. As opposed to the noodles we’re all used to, these noodles are made using alkaline water. That strong basic solution gives the noodles a more springy texture. Served fresh, extra hot, and extra long (hand pulled noodles are probably 2 or 3 times longer than a standard spaghetti), they are worth a try if you haven’t had them before.

I had mine in a soup, Nick had his just as a ‘noodle salad’ (hot noodle dish with veggies). Both were good. Nick’s were GREAT! They had an awesome garlic thing going on… which I often find lacking in some asian foods. I would strongly suggest giving them a shot. The sweet man working there gave us a great smile and a whole box of chocolates on our way out the door, which was such a cute surprise.
But anyway, after dinner we went through the mostly painless process of checking into our Air Bnb and settled in for a cozy night. Nick fell asleep early. I worked on some writing and content stuff, drank tea, tried a chocolate and did a little stretching, before making my own way to bed.
